The Mountain Community Church (renamed Liberty Tamborine Mountain Baptist Church) started with the passion of Matt and Sue Hanlon in 1998. They came with the support of Kenmore Baptist Church and the Church planting arm of the Baptist Union of Queensland. In five exciting years Matt and Sue established a vibrant gathering of christians who met together and served the mountain community.Matt and Sue moved to Yeppoon in 2004 to start another church.
A new phase began with the leadership of Mark and Cheryl Wilson, establishing a heart for overseas missions and teaching the relevance and power of God's word. Eventually Mark and Cheryl moved to Fiji to run "Homes of Hope", a shelter and lifestyle recovery centerfor abused women and their children. A new school has recently commenced there, with two Liberty members joining the HoH team to take on teaching roles. Liberty continues to support this valued work.
Liberty continues to meet together, on Sundays and in home groups everyweek. It's a gathering of people who receive and value the love of God on a daily basis. Today our team leaders are Rob & Aliki Flodine, Tamborine locals with a ministry of teaching and encouragement that has spanned Australia. As a group of people discovering God, life and love on this beautiful mountain, we desire to bring encouragement, friendship and prayers into the lives of people we meet, work with and know.
